Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers!)
Where do I park and when should I arrive?
Guest parking is located in the front entrance at the Gayton Road entrance of the parking lot. Additional parking is located at the rear of the church. We recommend you arrive about 15 minutes prior to the service you are attending. If you have children to take to the Nursery we recommend arriving about 20 minutes early. There are several Handicapped designated spaces available in the Cambridge Drive parking lot.
Is There A Dress Code?
You will see anything from shorts and flip flops to suits and ties. God is concerned about the condition of the heart, not the condition of the clothes and so are we. Feel free to dress in whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
What can I expect to happen when I visit Cambridge?
First, you will be met at the door by a member of our greeting team. In addition to giving everyone a warm greeting they are there to answer any questions you may have and to direct you to an appropriate Bible Study class or to the sanctuary for worship.
Do you have age appropriate Bible Study classes?
Our children’s classes are all grouped according to school grade. There are three adult classes with a wide range of ages in each group and we have one class of senior ladies.
What is the style of worship that I will experience?
We have a mixture of contemporary praise music with a guitar and keyboard as well as traditional hymns accompanied by piano and organ.
Do you have facilities to take care of babies and preschoolers?
Yes, we have a room with cribs for babies and a room with toys and small furniture for preschoolers in addition to their own Sunday school class. Both children’s facilities are staffed by adult volunteers who love to minister to little children. We care about each child’s safety as a priority and have an established safety policy for our children’s ministry. All of our volunteers have gone through thorough background checks and training. We follow a “2 adults present rule” for added security and peace of mind of children’s ministry volunteers and parents. Additional detailed policy information on child safety may be obtained through the church office.
How long is your worship service?
The Worship Team plans a service to last an 1 hour and fifteen minutes however we are always open to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
How do I become a member?
There are three ways that someone can become a member of Cambridge Baptist Church:
By Profession of Faith and Baptism
A person accepts Christ as his/her personal Savior and is baptized by full immersion.
By Transfer of Church Letter
A person comes to our church from being a member of another Southern Baptist church. Cambridge Baptist Church will take care of the administrative part of having the letter transferred from the previous church to our church fellowship.
By Statement
A person comes to our church from previous membership in a non-Southern Baptist church or from a situation where there is no previous church membership. If the person has been previously baptized by immersion after trusting Jesus as his/her personal Savior and understands that baptism is an ordinance symbolizing identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, then the person does not need to be baptized again.
